A tint of Philosophy

Okay, so some may see this as Richi: The problem solver or the philosopher or a new adviser cum Guru on the social network. But I'm none. The following are life lessons that I've been subjected to over the two decades of my existence. You may choose to read or not, learn from them or not, but just know that, you needn't jump into fire to realise that it burns. So, read on!  1. Any relationship/friendship is similar to a little sapling. It requires more effort when it's young (new) and budding than when it grows into a full tree. Because then, it can take care of itself on its own.   2. When things go wrong, they won't turn right on their own. You need to make them happen. If things aren't as good as earlier, you need to initiate and make the move. They were spoiled by your acts, they will be improved by your acts. Nothing happens on its own, not ever.  3. The hype around life. Why do they have millions of quotes on life? Why do they have to teach you the do'...

Vicious Circle of Expectations

No matter how well aware we are of the fact that expectations lead to disappointments, we never stop expecting. We may try to convince ourselves but subconsciously we all expect something or the other.  Every morning, we wake up expecting mom to cook us breakfast, lunch and dinner. We expect dad to work for us and earn us a living. And then the endless expectations from our siblings. Parents expect us to perform well career wise, expect love and respect which we most happily give, yet disappointments are inevitable because so are expectations.  And did I forget to mention the countless expectations we have from our friends and peers? Well, it's needless to say that we expect our friends to treat us the same way we treat them. But that's like expecting a lion not to attack you because you're sweet to it.  In this era of Whatsapp and Facebook, we usually expect the other person to drop a message, to call, to send a text, to strike a conversation and more...

Afraid of Fear

We're afraid of trying because we fear failure.  We're afraid of lying because we fear the truth.  We're afraid of trusting because we fear betrayal.  We're afraid of hoping because we fear despondency.  We're afraid of accepting because we fear rejection.  We're afraid of crying because we fear tears.  We're afraid of fighting because we fear war.  We're afraid of doing because we fear results.  We're afraid of constructing because we fear destruction.  We're afraid of possessing because we fear loss.  We're afraid of friendship because we fear foes.  We're afraid of loving because we fear pain.  We're afraid of living because we fear death.  We're afraid because we fear fear.

A Bud didn't Blossom

Today, as I sit to write  I can't do anything but fight  The tears in my eyes that build Thoughts have given birth to guilt Maybe it was me, maybe it was mine Mistakes like these, can't be defined The lines were drawn, I dare cross Let's flip a coin and do a toss Let luck decide the good for us Then it shouldn't be such a fuss A special bond is fading away  What can I do, do I have a say? Stop. Stop. Don't go. Stay.  Knees wobble and my heart pounds After ages, a connection was found Destroy the bud before it blossoms I'd take a grenade, for you, in my bosom.  It'll all be fine tomorrow  But now, I'm overcome by sorrow  And then they say, people leave How am I supposed to perceive  A love not known, a truth not told I had a heart, but now it's sold.  A few months old, a relation not hollow  You make it hard for me to swallow Things will change and words won't be spoken  I'll stand here, clinging to a heart that's broken.

7 Things Girls Need to get Right

Disclaimer- This piece is a personal opinion and should not be taken as a remark on anyone. The readers are requested to not be offended since I mean no offence at all. And if you end up being offended, the writer is not to be blamed. Thank you!  I have seen a lot of girls previously but thanks to my college, I now see hundreds of them each day. And analyse them. After so much analysis and observation, I finally discovered some things that ladies and girls need to improve upon and get right. Read on.  1. Wax the underarms  So this is a big big turn off for most people. Girls, you may wear sleeveless tops and dresses but know that we don't like to see the bushy region in your armpits that you least proudly show off. Ensure that you are perfectly waxed or have negligible growth the next time you decide to wear something with no sleeves. There's enough hair on your head, we don't need any more to admire.  2. Plastic straps   If the government was cons...

The Metro Peeps

Metro people: This is probably a new addition to the various categories of people that have been in existence since long. We discuss the types of people one can expect to find in the Delhi metro. Read on to know if you're one of them.  1. Chalta firta DJ   We all have come across this peculiar type of people who sway away to the tunes blurting from their exclusive skull candy headphones and pay no heed to the world around them. Their volume has not been set by limits and you can probably enjoy the same song without having to plug earphones. From London Thumakda to Bailamos, you can hear all genres of music, just tilt your head and concentrate a little.     2. Thoda adjust kar lo na "Excuse me, thoda shift kar lo." The most familiar and commonly used phrase by the metro people. If the entire row of seats is meant for 8 adults, don't be shocked to find a 10th one asking to adjust. And that's what Indians are best at, Adjusting. Thoda left, thoda right ...

Different yet Same.

Your hands maybe black or white,  But we bleed the same red blood Your faces maybe black or white,  But our tears flow the same  You maybe be American or German,  But our hearts beat the same  You maybe rich or poor,  But our poop is the same  We maybe different by nature But our hearts felt the same pain pwhen MH370 was lost. We felt the same pain when people went missing. They didn't tell us if they were Hindu or Muslim, they were just people. Same emotions, same world, just different opinions.  You may say Te Amo or Ich Liebe dich,  But the love we feel is the same  You may say Tshus or ciao,  Goodbyes don't hurt less or more.  You may be a man or a woman,  But a kid can't be born without either of you.  You may be Russian or Japanese, But the happiness and joy among people at arrival gates is the same.  You may wear a saree or a bikini, But our body parts are the same.  Your hands may be black or white,...
