5 Things I Love about Winter

I seem to share a love-hate relationship with this chilly winter season, but then who is to blame? My last blog-post was about how much I hate winter season for reasons now known to all. Nevertheless, there are two sides of a coin, so apparently, I also kinda like the season for the very few reasons that I have gathered. Despise and despite the cold, I find myself admiring it. Maybe you can relate.

1. Everything hot

And by that I most certainly mean I love myself. Well, keeping aside my self-obsession, I really like a warm body (mine or ...), warm bed, warm days and warm people (I can transfer my cold to them in return for the warmth). Oh, talking of hot things, I am more than happy to use the laptop on my lap for its bottom is as hot as your partner (I don't mean it, though). You never know warm unless you know cold, so that's how it works. There's one exception and that is well, the hot-dog which I don't like.

2. Food

There's no reason to not love food, be it winter or summer. A straight-out-of-the-oven double cheese margherita with barbecued chicken is one of the finest foods one can get in order to beat the biting cold. Well, that's my idea of a warm indulgence. A bowl of soup, a hot chocolate fudge, a warm doughnut, but nothing beats a steaming mug of hot coffee. It's best when its Rich Made. I'll go fetch another cup as you move on to the next point.

3. Tight hugs

This one's my personal favourite.. I'm all up for hugs irrespective of the season. And when it's as cold as 7 degrees centigrade, tight hugs can make you feel warm inside out. The best ones are those that last more than a minute, you know right? And then someone said, "The nicest thing about hugs is that you can't give one without getting one." So, spread some love and warmth this winter, Be a hugg-er.

4. Sun

Will you disagree with me if I say I love the sun during the winter? No, right? The sun is our resort when we need a natural heater and on days when the Sun God is kind enough, know that you're blessed. I never crave for sunlight any more than I do during these 2-3 months.

5. Goodbye

I know goodbyes suck but trust me, the only goodbye I like to bid is to the winter season. Finally, the torment will be over.

Some may love winter, others may hate, some may hate summer, others may love it. It's the nature's game, and there's nothing we can do but adapt to it, unless, of course, you want to migrate to places where weather conditions please you all year round.

I'm reminded of these lines as winter arrives in full swing with a strange calmness to it:

"If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?"
- Ode to the West Wind, P.B Shelly

P.S This is an edited version of the same blog that I wrote last winter.

Ego, Ego, E..GO.

What is ego? It is essentially the definition of you, for you and by you. It might as well be the factor that separates you from the rest of the world, giving you some sense of superiority over others. The roots of human ego lie in the 3 M’s: Me, Mine and Myself. The whole story begins right here. It is this ego that doesn’t let us use our full potential to nurture relationships. It prevents us from doing what is right and needful because too often, we are blinded by what we want. The ego wants to want more than it wants to have. Here, I am mostly going to talk about how ego transforms relationships and the effect it has on the people involved.    A lot of times, we find ourselves contemplating whether we should initiate or wait for the other to do so. Ending up with thoughts like “Woh bhi toh kar sakta/sakti hai. Main hi kyun karu?”  But, you know what, this happens only when someone has made us feel insignificant with their intentional or unintentional actio...

Different Kinds of People Seen During Diwali

Diwali is ,indeed, synonymous with togetherness, bonding and festivity. The most-awaited festival is here and I can already feel the air spell happiness. A lot has changed with time. However, some things have remained constant throughout, and this year is no exception. Coming to people, one can be sure to find few of the following kinds in their vicinity. Just look around, and you can spot them with no difficulty. After all, such are the people who make sure to keep alive the essence of Diwali. Watch out, you could be one of them, too! ;) 1. Card-Players Black jack, flash, bluff? Hello Mr. Know-It-All. Such are the people whose nights and money are spent playing endless card games. Seems like Diwali is the perfect time to get out that new pack of cards you'd been saving since a whole year. For the players, 'up and down' has more to do with monetary profit and loss than with intercourse positions.    2. Home-ridden creatures This particular kind is voluntarily home r...

What's in a Date?

Okay so today we celebrate the last sequential date in this century, 11-12-13.  It's the last date with consecutive numbers to appear in the 21st century, but why the hype?  Did they forget that every damn date in this century will never repeat itself?  Or is this just another money-minting criteria adopted by hotels, hospitals, bars, wedding planners and pandit ji's to brainwash people's minds and inform them about the importance of this one date?  Why the craze to tie the knot on this so called 'auspicious' date? Why the craze to deliver babies on this day? Are you going to tell me that its a 'lucky' day and will make your marriage last a year more than mine? Or your baby will be born an actor or IITian? Or probably that the food at restaurants will be better today?  Hell, no. If love doesn't see person or time, why does it see dates? Ladies, If babies born on other dates can become Shahrukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar, why the fuss about paining your bo...
