Nostalgia Dropped by Today

Nostalgia dropped by today,
A sudden knock on my door at midnight
I wasn't dressed
I wasn't prepared
I was startled
I was even afraid to an extent
Who might it be at this hour, I wondered
I mustered all the courage I could
Stepped out of my bed,
Stepped out of my comfort zone,
As I walked towards the door,
Seconds felt like hours
Reached for the doorknob and looked through the peephole
My stomach churned and knees wobbled

I recognized the face almost instantly
The familiarity was uncanny
I took a deep breath and pulled the door open
Strong winds gushed in and hit my face
Memories gushed in and hit me in the gut
At a pace faster than in Formula One
I felt the ground shift under my feet
I felt almost powerless
Another gush of wind and memories
He steps inside and approaches me, uninvited
Draws me closer and wraps me in his embrace
His body pressed against mine as he plants a kiss on my cheek
My heart raced and then sank
I shut my eyes and took it all in
Nostalgia dropped by today and said hello
And I welcomed him,
Nostalgia dropped by today,
And I embraced him with open arms.

Different Kinds of People Seen During Diwali

Diwali is ,indeed, synonymous with togetherness, bonding and festivity. The most-awaited festival is here and I can already feel the air spell happiness. A lot has changed with time. However, some things have remained constant throughout, and this year is no exception. Coming to people, one can be sure to find few of the following kinds in their vicinity. Just look around, and you can spot them with no difficulty. After all, such are the people who make sure to keep alive the essence of Diwali. Watch out, you could be one of them, too! ;) 1. Card-Players Black jack, flash, bluff? Hello Mr. Know-It-All. Such are the people whose nights and money are spent playing endless card games. Seems like Diwali is the perfect time to get out that new pack of cards you'd been saving since a whole year. For the players, 'up and down' has more to do with monetary profit and loss than with intercourse positions.    2. Home-ridden creatures This particular kind is voluntarily home r...

What's in a Date?

Okay so today we celebrate the last sequential date in this century, 11-12-13.  It's the last date with consecutive numbers to appear in the 21st century, but why the hype?  Did they forget that every damn date in this century will never repeat itself?  Or is this just another money-minting criteria adopted by hotels, hospitals, bars, wedding planners and pandit ji's to brainwash people's minds and inform them about the importance of this one date?  Why the craze to tie the knot on this so called 'auspicious' date? Why the craze to deliver babies on this day? Are you going to tell me that its a 'lucky' day and will make your marriage last a year more than mine? Or your baby will be born an actor or IITian? Or probably that the food at restaurants will be better today?  Hell, no. If love doesn't see person or time, why does it see dates? Ladies, If babies born on other dates can become Shahrukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar, why the fuss about paining your bo...

Ego, Ego, E..GO.

What is ego? It is essentially the definition of you, for you and by you. It might as well be the factor that separates you from the rest of the world, giving you some sense of superiority over others. The roots of human ego lie in the 3 M’s: Me, Mine and Myself. The whole story begins right here. It is this ego that doesn’t let us use our full potential to nurture relationships. It prevents us from doing what is right and needful because too often, we are blinded by what we want. The ego wants to want more than it wants to have. Here, I am mostly going to talk about how ego transforms relationships and the effect it has on the people involved.    A lot of times, we find ourselves contemplating whether we should initiate or wait for the other to do so. Ending up with thoughts like “Woh bhi toh kar sakta/sakti hai. Main hi kyun karu?”  But, you know what, this happens only when someone has made us feel insignificant with their intentional or unintentional actio...
