5 Things I Love about Winter

I seem to share a love-hate relationship with this chilly winter season, but then who is to blame? My last blog-post was about how much I hate winter season for reasons now known to all. Nevertheless, there are two sides of a coin, so apparently, I also kinda like the season for the very few reasons that I have gathered. Despise and despite the cold, I find myself admiring it. Maybe you can relate.  1. Everything hot                                              And by that I most certainly mean I love myself. Well, keeping aside my self-obsession, I really like a warm body (mine or ...), warm bed, warm days and warm people (I can transfer my cold to them in return for the warmth). Oh, talking of hot things, I am more than happy to use the laptop on my lap for its bottom is as hot as your partner (I don't mean it, though). You never know warm unless you know ...

5 Things I Hate About Winter

Winter is all about cold days, chilly mornings and nights, longing for the sun and seeking warmth. It's about dry fruits, food, woollens, cappuccino, blankets and quilts. It's about creating the perfect amalgamation of hot and cold. Sun is the only blessing most of us seek during the winter days. The human skin is apparently oil-free, cheeks are flushed red and of course, there's absolutely no sweating.  Some of you may have found reasons to love this season but I give you 5 reasons to hate it. Read below-  1. The blinding smog  Has it ever taken you double the time to reach office because you missed the turn you were supposed to take, due to invisibility caused by smog?  Winters arrive with the regular chill and fog that binds our body and blinds our eyes. I absolutely hate the fact that I can't see beyond a few meters, let alone drive to my destination. So don't be sorry, for there's only little you can do about it. Use public transport if you wan...

Welcome to Friend-Zone!

The new zone in town, have you heard about it? Well, I'm sure you have. Got an idea what I'm talking about? The Friend-zone! Does it ring a bell? Only if you tell me that you've never been there or done that, I can understand that it could well be an alien zone. For those who have been a victim or victimized others, you must have a clear picture of what it feels like to be friend-zoned or to friend-zone someone, respectively. A sweet slap, that's how it feels. Ouch! It hurt. As much as I have observed, there are two common cases of people ending up in the friend-zone. You won't be surprised to know! One, where someone asks the other out and is rejected for the reason that I-never-imagined-us-like-that-and-we're-just-good-friends. This is the scenario where you can't see yourself being asked out by someone who you thought was good enough to be the 'friend in need' but never the 'friend in bed'. But, know what? Karma is coming after y...

Different Kinds of People Seen During Diwali

Diwali is ,indeed, synonymous with togetherness, bonding and festivity. The most-awaited festival is here and I can already feel the air spell happiness. A lot has changed with time. However, some things have remained constant throughout, and this year is no exception. Coming to people, one can be sure to find few of the following kinds in their vicinity. Just look around, and you can spot them with no difficulty. After all, such are the people who make sure to keep alive the essence of Diwali. Watch out, you could be one of them, too! ;) 1. Card-Players Black jack, flash, bluff? Hello Mr. Know-It-All. Such are the people whose nights and money are spent playing endless card games. Seems like Diwali is the perfect time to get out that new pack of cards you'd been saving since a whole year. For the players, 'up and down' has more to do with monetary profit and loss than with intercourse positions.    2. Home-ridden creatures This particular kind is voluntarily home r...

Live and Learn

Shit happens, everything changes.  Nobody promised a bed of roses without thorns. Nobody ever had a rainbow without rain.  You can't separate the bad from the good. We all have certain people we don't want to lose, or people we wish we could hold onto. Most of us spend a proportion of our lives finding the right people and trying to establish lasting friendships with them. But, seldom do we succeed. And other times, it's not failure to recognise people as much as it is an opportunity to become wiser and learn lessons that you wouldn't have otherwise.  We meet by chance, come close by choice and separate because of lack of choice. They don't lie when they say it takes longer to build relationships than it takes to destroy them. Special friend, special connection, special someone; isn't special just too overrated? Maybe, maybe not. From the moment you know someone to the moment you know them inside out, the entire experience is like magic when you let yourse...

Happy Birthday, Nik!

Disclaimer: If this story makes you wonder that I might be in love with a girl, know that you're right. However, my sexual preference is still as straight as it was before meeting this girl. You may now read ahead. On ce upon a time... It was around that crucial period in any student's life: getting admission in a decent college, the cut-off's for DU had been declared a day before and the rush in colleges was beyond imagination. Most of the girls wished for co-ed colleges, and there I stood in queue for admission forms at Gargi College, still unable to digest the fact that boys were going to become an extinct specie over the next three years. Nevertheless, what was important was that we could manage to get to Gargi with those awful 94% marks, given the current scenario of cut offs in DU. It was a world where only girls existed, you may look left or right and as far as your eyes could see, you'd find only similar looking yet very different girls. Forms were filled, v...

My First Year of College

First, let me take a deep breath. Whoa! It's been one year since college began and although, it hasn't been as exciting as it looks from the outside, it's not been that bad, either. Infact, It's not even half bad. So, I'm a student of DU who was enrolled under the hastily introduced FYUP which would hold a rather debatable expansion; Four Year Undergraduate Programme or F*ck Yourself Undergraduate Programme. But, let's leave it to that. The termination of this new system came as hurriedly as its implementation, and so we are back to being students of the Three Year Undergraduate Programme.                                    Anyhow, apart from being treated as the official guinea pigs by the Great Indian Education System, there has been a lot to it. Basically, I'm going to talk of how my first year of college has been like. You may or may not exactly relate to it since it is an entirely pers...
