Bring back the smile

Teach me how to smile.
When all else fails and nothing seems right, all I want is that one person to come up to me, do whatever it takes and bring my smile back.
Amidst all the hassles of this modern living, we forget to smile, let alone have a good hearty laugh. It may be the busy schedules and long working hours but I'm sure none of us worked too hard to get that curve straight.
We grieve over little issues, knowingly or unknowingly make ourselves the victims of depression and let stress be synonymous with life but hey, you're alive.
Sometimes, we become so accustomed to the sad side of us that we forget the last time we were even close to happy. I know, things go wrong, we all screw up but that's not a reason to stop being happy. We can learn to smile, again.
How much I miss that person who could make me laugh at the lamest joke on earth and make me smile through the tears. It were those carefree and problem-free days that I wish I had some more. But you know what, it doesn't take someone else to make you happy. It takes YOU to make you happy.
But sure, I'll tell you what it takes to make someone smile.

1. Those three words
I Love You.
Trust me, even if they're from your sibling's mouth, they're likely to have a similar if not the same impact as had it been from his/her mouth.

2. One text message
Good morning or/and good night. (Okay, two texts)
Not much of an effort. A simple way to brighten up someone's day (and night).
Remember- if they don't text you, they're probably waiting for you to text them.

3. Food. Good food.
Whoever said money can't buy happiness, sure as hell didn't know that food could be bought. However, nothing beats the yummy mommy-made food that can most definitely cheer you up, provided she cooks your favourite dish!

4. Long tight hugs.
Hugs are the cure to almost everything except that they're not medicinal in nature which is but a good thing. Hug a teddy, hug a pet, hug a friend or hug..No, can't hug yourself. Long tight hugs that last more than a minute can leave you with more than just an ear to ear grin. How I love such hugs. And the best ones are the most unexpected ones. Hug me, now!

5. Surprises
We love surprises that don't shock us. Birthday surprise tops the list. If you want to make someone's day, pay them a surprise visit, give them a surprise call, send them a surprise gift or whatever, just surprise. It is one's artistry to deal with shocks as surprises, and if you're the one who can do that, well, you're the happiest person, my friend.

Oh dear, this isn't a guide to sure shot happiness. Just a few things that can possibly bring back someone's lost smile and in rare cases, tears of joy.
Smile and laugh, while you got teeth, boy! Let me go and find mine. :)

What's in a Date?

Okay so today we celebrate the last sequential date in this century, 11-12-13.  It's the last date with consecutive numbers to appear in the 21st century, but why the hype?  Did they forget that every damn date in this century will never repeat itself?  Or is this just another money-minting criteria adopted by hotels, hospitals, bars, wedding planners and pandit ji's to brainwash people's minds and inform them about the importance of this one date?  Why the craze to tie the knot on this so called 'auspicious' date? Why the craze to deliver babies on this day? Are you going to tell me that its a 'lucky' day and will make your marriage last a year more than mine? Or your baby will be born an actor or IITian? Or probably that the food at restaurants will be better today?  Hell, no. If love doesn't see person or time, why does it see dates? Ladies, If babies born on other dates can become Shahrukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar, why the fuss about paining your bo...

Hope isn't just a word, unless it is shattered.

They say hope can lead to miracles, turn the impossible into possible but can it make the dead man alive? They say hope can be your umbrella in the downpour, they say hope can fix the leaks. But can it fix the leaks in your heart, the tears that kiss your cheeks?  They say hope can bring merry, they say hope can make you rich. But can it bring you joy?  They say hope fulfils desires, they say hope can win against hope. But can you hope against the despondence?  They say hope isn't just a word, really?  They say its more than a word.  Of course, it's a way of life.  Unless. Unless it is shattered.

..I Let Him Go

Tonight is no different.   I twist and turn in bed like every other night.   The events of the day run a recap through my subconscious mind.   Nothing special. I twist and turn as grief takes over. One quiet sob. And another. And another. Before I know it, my sister is awake, holding me tight, asking me what's wrong. She's 15. How is she supposed to understand the so-called problems of adulthood? What do I explain her?   So she just holds me close while I cry the heck out of me.   It's not the kind of crying that babies do. It's not the cry for milk or for a toy or for a video game, nor is it for a dress or a party.   It's over a guy. A lost love.   No, he wasn't my boyfriend and he never could be. There are more kinds of love that can blossom between a guy and a girl, than you think. This was one of those different kinds.   Simply because we were different - together and individually. I don't know why I cry over him but I ...
