Live and Learn

Shit happens, everything changes.  Nobody promised a bed of roses without thorns. Nobody ever had a rainbow without rain.  You can't separate the bad from the good. We all have certain people we don't want to lose, or people we wish we could hold onto. Most of us spend a proportion of our lives finding the right people and trying to establish lasting friendships with them. But, seldom do we succeed. And other times, it's not failure to recognise people as much as it is an opportunity to become wiser and learn lessons that you wouldn't have otherwise.  We meet by chance, come close by choice and separate because of lack of choice. They don't lie when they say it takes longer to build relationships than it takes to destroy them. Special friend, special connection, special someone; isn't special just too overrated? Maybe, maybe not. From the moment you know someone to the moment you know them inside out, the entire experience is like magic when you let yourse...

Happy Birthday, Nik!

Disclaimer: If this story makes you wonder that I might be in love with a girl, know that you're right. However, my sexual preference is still as straight as it was before meeting this girl. You may now read ahead. On ce upon a time... It was around that crucial period in any student's life: getting admission in a decent college, the cut-off's for DU had been declared a day before and the rush in colleges was beyond imagination. Most of the girls wished for co-ed colleges, and there I stood in queue for admission forms at Gargi College, still unable to digest the fact that boys were going to become an extinct specie over the next three years. Nevertheless, what was important was that we could manage to get to Gargi with those awful 94% marks, given the current scenario of cut offs in DU. It was a world where only girls existed, you may look left or right and as far as your eyes could see, you'd find only similar looking yet very different girls. Forms were filled, v...

My First Year of College

First, let me take a deep breath. Whoa! It's been one year since college began and although, it hasn't been as exciting as it looks from the outside, it's not been that bad, either. Infact, It's not even half bad. So, I'm a student of DU who was enrolled under the hastily introduced FYUP which would hold a rather debatable expansion; Four Year Undergraduate Programme or F*ck Yourself Undergraduate Programme. But, let's leave it to that. The termination of this new system came as hurriedly as its implementation, and so we are back to being students of the Three Year Undergraduate Programme.                                    Anyhow, apart from being treated as the official guinea pigs by the Great Indian Education System, there has been a lot to it. Basically, I'm going to talk of how my first year of college has been like. You may or may not exactly relate to it since it is an entirely pers...

I'll be your candle, baby!

The candle still burns The flame still lights  But oh, does it flicker Stop the wind from blowing Does it really matter?  For as long as the light guides me home For as long as the heat keeps me warm Does it matter if the candle goes out?  But hey, sooner than later it will And then there won't be the same light tearing me apart  There will be light but the source won't be the same  There will be warmth but the provider won't be the wax  Let it burn, let it melt Coz you won't ever know what I felt  The darkness shall disappear  I'll be able to see through it as clear  Damn, was it just a candle that burnt  And took with it more than the wax  Well, only if he had known how to save the flame  Given her a little life of his own  For she had the will to light  One blow of air, she was out of sight

Bring back the smile

Teach me how to smile.  When all else fails and nothing seems right, all I want is that one person to come up to me, do whatever it takes and bring my smile back.  Amidst all the hassles of this modern living, we forget to smile, let alone have a good hearty laugh. It may be the busy schedules and long working hours but I'm sure none of us worked too hard to get that curve straight.  We grieve over little issues, knowingly or unknowingly make ourselves the victims of depression and let stress be synonymous with life but hey, you're alive.  Sometimes, we become so accustomed to the sad side of us that we forget the last time we were even close to happy. I know, things go wrong, we all screw up but that's not a reason to stop being happy. We can learn to smile, again.  How much I miss that person who could make me laugh at the lamest joke on earth and make me smile through the tears. It were those carefree and problem-free days that I wish I had some more. But you...

Let's become Strangers

In the unknown hour  Close, not too far You smiled your best  I forgot the rest All the love I ever had I spent on you, my bad I struggle to hold on  But I better be gone  Things begin to change  Hell, does it seem strange.  A coldness falls upon me It's not something I be  Soon, It'll be like before  When You'll matter no more  Like strangers we started  It's time now we parted  So let's mark the end  After all, I was just another friend.

Types of Friends

My friends, you're the inspiration behind this post. Some of you might as well relate to it, since this has to do with the various types of friends one has (usually).  Read on to find out if you have any of the following on your friend list!  1. Daily dose The exact type of friend who you talk to on a daily basis. Day in and day out. They may or may not be your best friends but are sure to buzz you each day without fail, and vice versa.  They will know when you wake up and when you sleep, probably because they are the first and last person you talk to after you're up and before you're asleep, respectively. It goes without saying that they are there when you need them and your day is incomplete without a chat with them. Simply put, you can't even go 24 hours without talking to them. Period.  2. The let's-meet-up friend  He or she might not talk to you often enough but whenever you do talk, you always end up with "Milte hain na yaar" and "Chal iss week,...
